What is PEPPOL and what will it mean for Eguide?

PEPPOL helps to send documents electronically in a standardized way.

Imagine you're trying to send an invoice to someone, but instead of using email or paper, you want to do it in a faster, safer, and more organized way. This is where PEPPOL (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) comes in. Say goodbye to PDF attachments and filing cabinets full of paper.

A Standart Format

PEPPOL is a system that helps businesses, governments, and organizations send documents, like invoices or purchase orders, electronically in a standardized way. Organizations that use PEPPOL can connect with each other and easily send and receive documents this way. The key part of PEPPOL is that it uses a standard format. This means every document sent through the PEPPOL network looks the same, so everyone knows exactly how to read and understand it, no matter where it's coming from.

Integration into Eguide

In the first half of this year we will integrate PEPPOL into Eguide and use it for sending invoices which we currently do through PDF attachments. From January 1, 2026, the Belgian government will require all companies to use Peppol for invoicing. So also Eguide.

We are currently looking for the cheapest, but also high-quality gateway. These gateways have small fees for every invoice send, and will mean a small price increase for our clients. It's a return to the stamp. In the past you also had to send the invoice by post, now via Peppol, for which a fee is charged.

However, this integration ensures compliance with upcoming regulations, enhances security, and improves efficiency in document exchange. By adopting PEPPOL now, we are preparing for the future of digital transactions and ensuring seamless invoicing for our users. This means that Eguide will fully comply with sending Peppol invoices in the course of 2025.
